Organic farming is the cornerstone of our Relais. The Menu and the traditional cuisine of our restaurant are based on fresh and 0 Km products of the organic farm and refined and top-quality ingredients, which are the fruits of the efforts and time spent on our farm. Running an organic farm and keeping the balance between the identity of the place and the philosophy of an agritourism require efforts and dedication.
The estate and the farm are the soul of Monaci delle Terre Nere. Recovering ancient and native species enabled to grow fruit trees, vegetables and herbs which are the ingredients of what is served in our restaurant. Some of the species which are grown here are: the PDO Mastrantonio cherry-tree (the king of the Etna fruits, approved by the EU), the Snuffbox and Sbergia Peach, the Coscia and Baccibedda Pear tree, the Cola Apple tree, the Damaschino Apricot tree, the Vinnignola Fig, the Muscateddu Plum tree. Wild vegetables are grown as well: Cannatedda, Caliceddi, Caccialepre, Coscivecchi. A nice and relaxing walk through our 16 hectares estate, visiting our farm, could help you in appreciating these efforts. During your stay at Monaci, make sure to profit by a tour around the estate, in order to fully understand Monaci’s identity and philosophy. Monaci means flavors and colors, but also intense scents and silence, among herbs, fragrances and the calm of its surroundings.
