How to reach us
Tucked between the slopes of Europe’s most captivating volcano and the deep blue of the Ionian coast, Monaci delle Terre Nere is both secluded and surprisingly close to Eastern Sicily’s most iconic destinations. We’re located in Zafferana Etnea — just a short drive from Taormina and Catania — and ideally positioned for exploring Syracuse, Noto, the Alcantara Gorges, the coastline, and even the Aeolian Islands.
Here, among lava-stone farmhouses and lush vineyards, awaits a rare kind of place: peaceful, authentic, and immersed in a landscape that continues to astonish. We’ll be waiting for you at Monaci delle Terre Nere — where every journey finds its destination.
Catania Fontanarossa International Airport (CTA) is about 40 minutes by car from the resort.
Upon request, we’ll arrange private transfer with a professional driver — welcoming you directly at the airport. Alternatively, you may rent a car and follow our suggested driving directions below.
The closest train station is Catania Centrale, with direct routes from Rome, Naples, Palermo, and many regional hubs.
Car rental services are available near the station if you prefer to drive yourself using the recommended route below.
There are several ways to reach Monaci delle Terre Nere, but we recommend the most scenic and pleasant one.
From Catania Fontanarossa Airport:
- Exit the airport and follow the E45 westbound toward Messina.
• Continue for about 15 km and take the exit for Giarre.
• Follow signs for Zafferana Etnea. We suggest avoiding the coastal road or the direct climb from Acireale — quicker but far more winding.
• From Giarre, take the SP4 provincial road toward Trecastagni — a picturesque route that winds through rolling hills, small Etna villages, and chestnut forests, offering stunning views of both the volcano and the sea.
• Pass through Santa Venerina and continue toward Pisano Etneo, a quiet hamlet of Zafferana Etnea.
• Once in Pisano Etneo, follow signs for Via Monaci, 95019 Zafferana Etnea.
