the Sicilian indigenous grape by antonomasia. The Catarratto is a white grape and the most cultivated in Sicily. When grown in the lava soils of Mt. Etna, however , it does not have the bitter aftertaste sometimes found in much of the Sicilian continent.

U' Ranaci

is produced from Grenace grapes, a vine brought by the French vina-culturalists to Mount Etna centuries ago. Besides the characteristics of softness, body and velvety tannins, it achieves a natural depth of tone from the lava soil of Etna. "U 'Ranaci" is the name used by our ancestors who' Sicilianized 'the name of the Grenace.

Mount Etna is the third most important wine producing area in Italy, for the great diversity of its land and its microclimates, and the extraordinary finesse of its wines. Taking advantage of the richness of Etna’s terroir, Monaci grows its own vines, with indigenous varieties of the Etna region, such as Nerello Mascalese (our restaurant Locanda Nerello is named after this variety) and Carricante, a wine grape variety which can be found only in the Etna region.
