Organic estate on Etna
Monaci delle Terre is a place of ancient terraces of vineyards and fruit trees with over 150 degrees, in a high mountain microclimate in the heart of the Mediterranean, which is a source of inspiration and excellent raw materials.
Monaci cultivates its vineyards to produce its own wine, with native varieties of the Etna region.
Mount Etna is the third most important wine producing area in Italy, for the great diversity of its land and its microclimates, and the extraordinary finesse of its wines. Taking advantage of the richness of Etna’s terroir, Monaci grows its own vines, with indigenous varieties of the Etna region, such as Nerello Mascalese (our restaurant Locanda Nerello is named after this variety) and Carricante, a wine grape variety which can be found only in the Etna region. Guests can enjoy our wine and a rich wine selection with the best Italian and foreign labels, through our wine tastings with an expert sommelier.

Our wine selection pays tribute to the Etna region excellence in terms of wine.
We propose the best wines from Etna and Sicily, but also from the rest of Italy and abroad and obviously you can taste Monaci’s own wine. The Etna region is the third most important wine producing area in Italy and Wine Spectator put 3 of our Etna wines on the list of the best 100 wines from Italy. In our wine cellar you can choose among the best wine brands of the territory, which can be paired to the recipes of our restaurant or can be enjoyed during your moments of relax. Among our wines, you will find mainly native varieties such as the Nerello mascalese or the Nerello Cappuccio, with important brands of the region such as Benanti, Frank Cornellissen, Passopisciaro, Tenuta delle Terre Nere and others, but also allochthonous varieties such as the Petit Verdot and others, liquors and dessert wines such as the Malvasia delle Lipari, the Passito di Pantelleria, the Marsala Superiore or the Vecchio Samperi.
Monaci is the first privileged spot to taste our own wine, made from the vines of our own vineyards, with different native varieties of the Etna region, such as Nerello Mascalese and Carricante, a wine grape variety which can be found only in the Etna region.
Wine tastings within the estate and in several wineries of the surroundings are proposed to our guests and wine classes with experts sommeliers are organized every week.
